Mind your Body & Soul: The Healthy Podcast S1 E20 “The Fight Against HIV/AIDS & Racism with The Normal Anomaly Institute”

Mind Your Body & Soul: The Healthy Podcast is hosted by Joseph Ward, Mathias Sweet, and Mrs. Alana Steaple. Mind Your Body & Soul is an educational podcast that focuses on all thing’s health related, to help our listeners learn more about various health topics and information they may not have had access to. We seek to inform, empower, uplift and, mobilize our listeners to become the healthiest versions of themselves.

Happy Black History Month & Happy National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Every February 7th we recognize National Black HIV/AIDs Awareness Day, and we dedicate this episode to this day. This week’s episode is our season 1 finale. Our guest for the week are Ian L. Haddock & Titan Capri of The Normal Anomaly Institute in Houston, Texas. The Normal Anomaly was created for storytellers changing the narrative of the Black, queer community especially at the intersection of health and racial disparities in June 2016. Having written and video work featured in places such as Prime Video, Huffington Post, The Griot, United States Conference on HIV and AIDS (USCHA), Snapchat, and many others, has been a testament to the work that this organization has done.

Since then, it has gone on to become a Houston staple in the spaces of advocacy, community engagement, and outreach. Led and founded by local activist, Ian L. Haddock, The Normal Anomaly Initiative is primed to be an essential part of the fabric of equality at the intersections of Black and Queer. With a team of volunteers, consultants, and staff that believes in the vision and mission of the organization, the story continues to be told.
