Neighborhood Medical Center is your home for healthcare, providing Primary Care, Mental Health, and Dental services to all of our patients, regardless of their ability to pay. Available Positions

This is a full-time position with benefits. Job duties include, but are not limited to: *

  • Greets clients and visitors to clinic and assists with check in process.
  • Makes appointments and educates clients regarding documents they will need to provide at the time of service.
  • Answers phones and accurately direct calls.
  • Accurately enters, maintains and retrieves data on NMC’s computer system.
  • Uses and maintains electronic medical record, accurately assembling income documents, and ensuring client information is up to date and complete

 

Qualifications

  • Possess a minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent; college degree preferred
  • Least 1 year of recent work experience at medical front office or call center
  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish/Creole is a plus.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure referral policies and workflows.
  • Prioritize referrals by urgency and perform within Neighborhood Medical Center protocols.
  • Initiate referral process and requirements including patient demographics, insurance information and clinical encounters.
  • Maintain ongoing tracking and documentation on referrals through the completion of the referral process, including obtaining clinical notes for closing the referral loop.
  • Communicate with insurance companies to initiate prior approval/precertification requirements.
  • Request new referrals/orders per need.
  • Follow up with patients, care providers and community partners on all referrals.
  • Educate and assist patients in enrolling in Medicaid, SNAP, WIC and other entitlement programs.
  • Identify and utilize community resources; establish relationships with medical providers and personnel.
  • Act as the point of contact for patients and specialists regarding questions or concerns.

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or its equivalent and/or bachelor’s degree in social work or health sciences.
  • Previous experience in case management or referral management preferred.
  • Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must clear a Level 2 Background Check.
  • Ability to function independently.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the complete cycle of referral management.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interviewing skills.
  • Ability to work with patients in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
  • Ability to work as a team member.
  • Ability to work without supervision.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer screen. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Continuous computer screen usage.

This is a full time job with benefits, job duties include but are not limited to:

  • Update and file patient medical record
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain clinic exam room supplies and cleaning.
  • Arrange for clinical admission and laboratory services
  • Answer and return phone calls from patients
  • Assist in taking medical histories and recording this information into the EMR
  • Obtain vitals from patients and record in the EMR and report abnormalities to the provider immediately
  • Handle client screening (ex: height / weight measurements).
  • Check vision and hearing checks.
  • Prepare necessary instruments for sterilization and patient procedures
  • Handle medical prescriptions and referrals
  • Obtain blood samples from patients as ordered
  • Process all referrals to specialists and social service agencies
  • Enter medical information into EMR from outside providers
  • Confirm appointments for case management patients.
  • Ensure proper documentation is complete and accurate for clinical measures and UDS information.
  • Ensure patients are educated on the benefits of and are signed up to Patient Portal
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Job Qualifications

  • Medical Assistant Certification from a reputable institution High School Diploma / GED is required.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a Level 2 Background Check
  • 1+ years experience as a medical assistant
  • CPR certified in infants, children and adults.
  • Completion of PALS Training.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Must be able to multi-task.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist the dentist and dental staff with taking molds/dental impressions and take and develop x-rays.

Interact with and attend to patients before, during and after appointments.

Order supplies, answer phones and schedule appointments for dental services.

Gathers and records the patient’s medical history

Take and record vital signs during each visit

Ensure that patients are comfortable and relaxed during the visit.

Provides assistance to the dentist during procedures

Utilize suction hoses as well as other dental equipment to keep the mouth of the patient dry.

Teach patients about oral hygiene as instructed by the dentist.

Enhances the patient/family/significant other(s) role by promoting healthy lifestyles.

Selects, adapts, and individualizes patient education information for the patient/family by evaluating available brochures, printed materials, video tapes, and external resources in light of the age, culture, religious practices, and language of the patient/family/significant other(s).

Documents patient care services by completing charting in patient and department records.

Identifies future patient education requirements by maintaining rapport with potential and actual clients and other persons in a position to understand emerging patient education requirements; identifying community and other resources.

Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

Perform other duties as requested.

 

Qualifications and Experience:

Possess at minimum a high school diploma or its equivalent, bachelor’s degree preferred.

Previous experience in oral/dental health preferred.

Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Must clear a Level 2 Background Check.

Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.

Ability to function independently.

Ability to work flexible hours
