Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women—about 270,000 women are diagnosed each year, accounting for approximately 30% of all cancer cases, according to the American Cancer Society. Although it happens much less often, men can develop breast cancer, too.

Karen Russell, MD is a board-certified medical oncologist/hematologist at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare. She received her medical degree in 2002 from the University of Miami School of Medicine before going on to complete her residency at the Naval Medical Center and fellowship at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Russell practices at the TMH Physician Partners – Cancer & Hematology practice and is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine. Dr. Russell loves people and enjoys getting to know her patients; walking with them through their individual cancer journeys is one of the favorite parts of the job.
