Tallahassee, FL –Leon County Schools announced a partnership with Neighborhood Medical Center to plan for the opening of a community health clinic on the Rickards High School campus within the Millicent Holifield Clinic. The envisioned medical center will bring dental, primary and behavioral health care services to the South Side community.
“We have seen, first hand, how not having access to healthcare can affect a student’s learning. Over the past several months there has been significant discussion surrounding community schools and the need to serve students and the public beyond the walls of education. This partnership will provide our school district and surrounding community the opportunity to address important needs and best utilize existing school facilities,” said Superintendent Jackie Pons.
“We are excited about this unique partnership with Leon County Schools. It provides a great opportunity to serve the needs of the community from the Millicent Holifiled Clinic at Rickards High School. Our enthusiasm cannot be contained as we move through the technical aspects of this endeavor.”–Alexis McMillan, NMC Board Chair.
The clinic intends to have a full schedule of hours, including extended evening and weekend hours. Further information will be available as Leon County Schools and Neighborhood Medical Center continue through the technical planning process.
